TENTANG SENIMAN:

AGUS BAQUL

Seniman Indonesia, Agus Baqul Purnomo, dikenal karena eksplorasi kontemporernya pada seni kaligrafi Islam yang memadukan estetika aliran Abstract Expressionist dengan spiritialutas penganut agama Islam. Pengulangan yang puitis dan emosional akan tekstur dan warna memberikan perluasan pada seni kaligrafi secara tradisional secara formal dan linguistic yang mencerminkan nafas seni dan spiritualitas di Indonesia.

Agus Baqul Purnomo (l. 1975, Indonesia) lulusan Institute Seni Indonesia, Yogyakarta, telah beberapa kali berpameran tunggal hingga saat ini, termasuk diantaranya: UniVerse(s), diselenggarakan oleh Valentine Willie Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur secara offsite di The Annexe Gallery, Malaysia, 2011; Secret Garden, Vivi Yip Art Room, Jakarta Indonesia, 2010; Recite!/Iqra!, Valentine Willie Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2009; Vortex 8, Tembi Contemporary, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 2008; Final Work, Indonesian Institute of Art, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 2005 dan Ruang Tanpa Ruang, Gelaran Budaya, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Dia juga berpartisipasi adalam beberapa pameran kelompok di Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Korea, Japan dan China. 

MELLA JAARSMA

Karya Mella Jaarsma's yang bersifat multi-disipliner menegaskan perbedaan, identitas dan keprihatinannya pada kondisi sosio-politis di Indonesia. Karyanya mengungkapkan proses dikotomi peliyanan dan perlindungan/pemenjaraan yang mengkomunikasikan pada kita cara kita menavigasikan dunia disekeliling kita. 

Mella Jaarsma (l. 1960, Belanda) telah berpameran di banyak event di Indonesia dan Internasional. Pameran tunggalnya tang baru-baru ini termasuk: The Fitting Room, Selasar Sunaryo Art Space, Bandung dan di Galeri Nasional, Jakarta, Indonesia, 2009; Zipper Zone, s.14, Bandung, Indonesia, 2009; De meeloper / the follower, Artoteek Den Haag, The Netherlands, 2006; Shelter me, Gaya Fusion Art Space, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia, 2006; Asal, Etemad Gallery, Tehran, Iran, 2005 dan The Shelter, Valentine Willie Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2004. Mella juga berpartisipasi dalam The Incheon Women Artists' Biennale, Art Platform, Incheon, Korea, 2009 dan JOGJA JAMMING, Yogyakarta Biennale X, Yogyakarta National Museum, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 2009. Tahun 1988, bersama dengan pasangannya Nindityo Adipurnomo, dia memulai Galeri Cemeti di Yogyakarta, yang sejak1999 berubah nama menjadi Cemeti Art House, dan mengorganisasi pameran, projects serta program residensi.

AGUS BAQUL

Indonesian artist Agus Baqul Purnomo is well known for his contemporary exploration of Islamic calligraphy that fuses Abstract Expressionist aesthetics with Muslim spirituality. Highly poetic and emotional he uses repetition, texture and colour to expand on the tradition of calligraphy in both formal and linguistic ways that reflects upon art and spirituality in Indonesia.

Agus Baqul Purnomo (b. 1975, Indonesia) is a graduate of the Indonesian Institute of Art, Yogyakarta has had several solo shows to date including UniVerse(s), Valentine Willie Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur offsite at The Annexe Gallery, Malaysia, 2011; Secret Garden, Vivi Yip Art Room, Jakarta Indonesia, 2010; Recite!/Iqra!, Valentine Willie Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2009; Vortex 8, Tembi Contemporary, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 2008; Final Work, Indonesian Institute of Art, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, 2005 and Ruang Tanpa Ruang, Gelaran Budaya, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Korea, Japan and China.

MELLA JAARSMA

Mella Jaarsma’s multi-disciplinary practice articulates notions of difference, identity and Indonesian socio-political concerns. Her work reveals processes of othering and shelter/prison dichotomies that communicate how we navigate the world around us. 

Mella Jaarsma (b. 1960, The Netherlands) has exhibited widely both internationally and in Indonesia.
